Our Favorite Part of What We DoWe love the whole process, but hearing that the client is having friends and family over and enjoying their improved space is a highlight. My Favorite Part of What I DoI love seeing a vision come to life, so I always look forward to install day. Styling the space and bringing everything together is one of the most rewarding parts of the process for me. Before Heather Wells partnered with Bruce Fox to practice as Wells & Fox, she operated a sole proprietorship. In 2015, she again struck out on her own to design residential interiors noticed by Architectural Digest, New England Home, Luxe Interiors + Design, Boston Home, and Traditional Home. Wells, who studied at Smith College and the Harvard Graduate School of Design, is a licensed architect and a New England Home Design Hall of Fame inductee.

The bedroom is a tranquil oasis, with a simple, four poster bed with an upholstered headboard. The tiles and glass shelves recede into intricately patterned, blue wallpaper. The kitchen, thankfully, was not spared its share of cerulean touches. The skyblue island has seating for two at leather, mid-century modern stools. A Wellesley project captured in The Boston Globe reworked a family’s existing layout and furniture.

We like our house, but as new parents our home started to look and feel like a daycare - covered in toys! Working with Stacey gave us the tools and inspiration to design our space to fit the entire family’s needs and aesthetics. Stacey listened to our questions and worked with us to develop a detailed plan for how to transform and lift up the energy of our living spaces. She provided images, links, and guiding principles on interior design that allowed us to have fun making our home feel more our own.
Elza also designed her first furniture line for Dowel Furniture this year. We design urban residences, metropolitan homes, and weekend escapes that balance a client’s individual needs, aesthetics, and personality to create highly considered yet uniquely inviting spaces. Like the Boston business, the local studio will specialize in interior decorating for its clients, from gutting renovations to ground-up work, from coastal getaways to high-rise condos. The best moment is when they walk into the completely finished room and they feel so taken care of—every last detail was thoughtfully curated just for them.

Over the course of 16 episodes – 7 of which featured my interior design expertise – I took Murat and Katherine on a journey that spanned the classic and current. At his 1905 Shingle-style Boston home, designer Dane Austin installed floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall tile, a choice inspired by The Elms, a mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. The cabinetry was painted a robin’s-egg blue, and a custom island adds patina to the space.
The high-gloss trim and steel fireplace hearth are anachronisms, but their gleam in the sunlight lends the room a cheeky glow that just works. In the kitchen, Elms Interior Design resized the marble, waterfall-edge island to accommodate a breakfast banquette and table. Elsewhere in the home, handpainted wallpaper and indoor-outdoor upholstery make for a refined, luxurious space that can stand up to a young family. A plain wall became a feature with the addition of a travertine-wrapped, floor-to-ceiling hearth. They enlisted Herrick & White Architectural Woodworkers of Rhode Island to craft a coffered ceiling for the home.
I cannot say enough good things about the entire Eleven Interiors team. We have worked with them on multiple projects and each time both the design quality and attention to detail has exceeded our expectations. My wife and I completely trust their judgment and have come to greatly appreciate their unique ability to make living spaces both highly functional and aesthetically pleasing. Meredith Thayer’s Thayer Design Studio is a popular Boston interior design firm specializing in new construction and renovations for commercial and residential clients.
